CSS DB9-DB9 Extension Cable
(5M, CAN Bus)

Need to extend your CAN Bus?
CSS 5 Meters DB9 female to DB9 female extension cable lets you easily connect a CSS CANmod to a CSS CANedge 2nd port or a CSS CANsub - while deploying the devices far apart. A direct connection can be made due to the 2 x female connectors.
The connectors are non-terminated, letting you flexibly combine the cable with our CSS DB9-DB9 (3M) or CSS DB9-DB9/DB9 (Y-Splitter) cables.
Note: When using a 5M cable with a single CSS CANmod, you may need to add a terminal resistor on the CSS CANedge / CSS CANsub side in addition to the built-in CSS CANmod termination.

About the CSS Extension Cable
CSS 5 Meters DB9 female to DB9 female CAN bus extension cable is great for connecting multiple CAN nodes in a system. In particular, the use of two DB9 female connectors makes this cable ideal for connecting a CSS CANmod to a CSS CANedge 2nd port or a CSS CANsub when you need to distance the devices.
If your goal is instead to connect a CSS CANedge/CSS CANsub/CSS CANmod to an existing CAN bus directly, CSS recommend to instead us CSS DB9-DB9 (3M). This is because the 3M cable has a male/female pair - and because it is normally recommended to avoid excessively long stub lengths on a larger CAN bus system (e.g. in a vehicle).
The cable is non-terminated, letting you combine the cable with other DB9 adapter cables. The DB9 pinouts are according to CiA 303-1, meaning that the cable can be used with any of CSS CAN loggers and adapters - as well as most other CAN tools on the market.
Use Case
Below is an example where extension cable may be relevant:
Connecting a CSS CANedge and CSS CANmod
Need distance between your CSS CANedge and CSS CANmod?
A common use case is to combine the CSS CANedge CAN bus datalogger with on or more CSS CANmod devices. In larger vehicles (e.g. heavy-duty) it can be necessary to have significant distance between the CSS CANedge and CSS CANmod. For example, a CSS CANedge2/CSS CANedge3 may be deployed in an area ideal for connectivity - while a CSS CANmod.temp may be placed in an area of interest for temperature measurement. Here, the CSS DB9-DB9 (5M) extension cable makes it quick and easy to connect the devices. If 5 Meters is not enough, you can extend the CAN bus further by adding CSS DB9-DB9 (3M) cables.
